OSI Electronics have a skilled workforce who want to pass on their skills to an apprentice as an operator or inspector working within an SMT (Surface Mount Technology) environment, with the opportunity to progress to other areas within the Production team. SMT is an assembly and production method that applies electronic components directly onto the surface of a Printed Circuit Board (PCB) You will work along side the SMT operator who is responsible for setting up and operating a variety of automatic or semi-automatic machines including robotic assembly equipment used in the production of the company's product. You will be trained by an experienced SMT operator how to operate all machines within the department. This entails building a circuit board from a blank board, to a populated PCB. You will be further trained in how to use inspection machines and soldering to rework the built boards. Using an extensive training matrix to develop skills within the SMT area you will learn to be a competent operator. This role will lead to the responsibility for the overall operation and care of potentially large-scale manufacturing machinery including actions such as, feeding materials for processing, adjusting settings, performing minor repairs, and pulling finished product from the line.
